If you recently played CSGO and received an alert saying that ‘VAC was unable to verify your game session,’ this is your one-stop guide to fix it.

Many will see the word ‘VAC’ and assume they were banned, but we can ensure that this is just a bug and you weren’t put on VACation. This glitch usually gets patched after completing Method 1, but in some scarce circumstances, you will need to Test Method 2.

Method 1: Verifying Game Files

  • Find Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in your Steam Library
  • Right-click the game and open ‘Properties’
  • Open ‘Local Files’
  • Click ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’

After the process is finished, you will need to restart your computer.

The issue should be fixed once your computer boots up, and CS:GO should be playable once again. However, as stated earlier, in some rare circumstances, the problem may still be present after trying Method 1, so you’ll have to try Method 2 if you are unlucky.

Method 2: Reinstalling CSGO

Reinstalling CSGO will erase all your in-game settings, so we recommend taking a screenshot of your settings before using this method. This method always fixes the issue but generally takes longer to complete depending on your internet.

  • Find Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in your Steam Library
  • Right-click the game and hover over ‘Manage’
  • Click ‘Uninstall’
  • A verification window will pop-up and click ‘Uninstall’

We hope you found our guide useful, and we’re able to resolve the issue. However, if the issue remains of VAC being unable to verify the integrity of your game session, then please use the button below to discover more methods.
