Five new Naval missions were introduced to Rust with the Naval update. Each of the five missions offers great rewards, requiring players to venture out into the seas of Rust. In this blog, we will be guiding you through the Gone Killing Mission, which requires you to kill patrolling scientists around the Deep Sea and, by far, offers some of the strongest rewards.
Rust’s Gone Killing Mission can be obtained from the Floating Citizen found on the docks of the Floating City. To reach the Floating City you’ll have to venture into the deep sea. The deep sea only appears for 3 hours every 60 minutes. It can only be accessed using an RHIB, PT, or modular boat. The Floating Citizen wears scuba gear with their hair fit in a large brown bun. Interact with the NPC and ask to see what work they have to receive the option to accept the Gone Killing mission.

Kill 8 Scientists on patrol boats – Use an accurate gun such as a rifle or high-tier SMG to pick off Scientists riding patrol boats at a distance. Patrol boats can often be found defending ghost ships, protecting Oil Rig once the hackable crate begins unlocking, or hunting players in the deep sea.

Return to the mission provider. – Head back to the Floating Citizen at the Floating City and speak with him. Hand in Rust’s Gone Killing mission to receive your rewards.
