Five new Naval missions were introduced to Rust with the Naval update. Each of the five missions offers great rewards, requiring players to venture out into the seas of Rust. In this blog, we will be guiding you through Rust‘s Keeping Afloat Mission, which requires you to make a special delivery to the Floating City.

Where to Obtain The Keeping Afloat Mission

Rust’s Keeping Afloat Mission can be obtained from the Lumberjack NPC found in the Bandit Camp or Outpost, depending on your selected server’s settings. However, by default, the Lumberjack mission giver sits next to the Stuff vendor inside the Bandit Camp. Interact with the Lumberjack and offer him help to receive the mission.

Obtain 3000 Wood – The Lumberjack offers two other tasks, providing a Metal Hatchet and Basic Wood Tea to assist in gathering wood.

Venture into the Deep Sea – The Deep Sea is marked by a border on the edge of your map. It only appears for 3 hours every 60 minutes. It can only be accessed using an RHIB, PT, or Modular Boat.

Enter the Floating City – Look in the distance for a large central island marked by massive silos. This is the Floating City safe zone where you must deliver the wood.

Speak to the Lumberjack’s Contact – The Lumberjack’s Contact is the Floating Citizen, who can be found wearing Scuba Gear near the city docks. Return to him to complete Rust’s Keeping Afloat mission.
