Rust Deep Sea Changes Improve The New Biome

With the recent Shipshape update, numerous balancing changes have been made to improve the deep-sea biome. The deep-sea biome was added in last month’s Naval Update to enable deep-water exploration with the new modular boats. The changes aim to further develop the new biome, making it more enjoyable for players. Follow along as we cover every change made to Rust’s deep sea.

Rust Deep Sea Opening Changes

The way the deep sea opens is being modified to offer a more natural experience for players. The deep sea will now open on a random side of Rust’s ocean every time. Along with this, a notification sound will play to alert players that the deep sea biome has opened. Players heading to the deep sea may realize that RHIBs can no longer enter it and will require a modular boat. Furthermore, the deep sea will no longer open with a severe wipe, stopping players from instantly entering the biome upon server reset.

Deep Sea Loot Respawns

Loot now respawns inside of the deep sea. The feature aims to make the deep sea more enticing for players who were unable to grab any of the initial loot. The base amount of loot that spawns in the deep sea has been decreased by about 30% to balance all of the extra respawning loot.

Deep Sea View Distance

The maximum view distance in the deep sea has also been increased from 300 meters to 620 meters. This change will allow players to spot modular boats and tropical islands from much farther away. This change cannot be brought over to Rust’s main island, as the amount of clutter would kill performance.

Deep Sea Boat Building

Finally, boat-building stations have been added to every deep-sea tropical island for mid-sea repairs. The stations can be found on the shores of deep-sea islands and allow you to dock your ship for any sort of modifications or repairs. The static building stations even feature a magnetic field that pulls in docked ships as long as they are powered down and close by.
