The recent Rust Naval update added an entirely new biome in the form of the deep sea. The deep sea biome is only open during certain time frames, requires special conditions to access, and is full of highly dangerous obstacles. Follow along this guide as we help you prepare for your journey into the Deep Sea.
Rust’s deep-sea biome isn’t accessible at all times of the day. The biome only opens after a 60-minute interval, and it remains open for a total of 3 hours. After the 3 hours are up, radiation fills the deep sea, cleaning it of players, all loot is wiped, and the deep sea closes for another 60 minutes. To check if the deep sea is open, look at the edge of your map for a navy blue border marked by a 3-hour timer and a white anchor logo.

Once the deep sea opens and you are ready for your journey, obtain a sturdy vessel to begin travelling into the deep sea. A sturdy vessel includes either an RHIB, the new PT boat (patrol boats), or a player-made modular boat that can withstand the storms of the deep sea. With your sturdy boat, steer towards the deep sea border, which will be marked by glowing buoys when approached. After crossing the buoys, your boat will enter a storm, venture through the storm to begin your journey into the deep sea.

That covers the entirety of our guide on how to access Rust’s deep sea biome. Now you know everything to expect before you prep your deep-sea exploration journey. If you found this guide helpful, feel free to review our guide covering what you can find inside the deep-sea biome. See you next time!
