Rust’s Future Updates Look Incredible

After the introduction of Rust’s “Friends With Benefits” July Update, the developers decided to tease upcoming features with a few images of what is to come. The announcement includes confirmation of a future update, the announcement of a collaboration, and even teases what we can expect months in advance. Strap on in as we cover all this exciting information on Rust’s future.

These additions are part of Rust's "Friends With Benefits" Update

Rust July Update Overview

Future Naval Update

The Rust developers announced a future naval update in the “Friends with Benefits” patch notes. Modular player-built boats, cannons, sails, and more are all planned for later this year. The developers also left us with a picture showing some early concepts of the features which tease players further with watch towers, boat doors, ship wheels, and pictures of fully developed modular boat bases.

Warhammer Collaboration

A Warhammer collaboration announced back in May is also still planning to make it inside Rust’s future updates. The collaboration will bring cosmetic skins for clothing, bases, weapons, the hazmat suit, and more. All of these items will be part of a paid DLC known as the Death Korps of Krieg Pack.

Further Teases

Further features for future Rust updates have also been hinted at by developers, including new animals, along with AI and animal overhauls. The staging branch has revealed a new menu refresh along with the return of Rust’s hardcore game mode, which is receiving an entire rework itself, both of which we can expect to see in the next update. Finally, a tweet from Alistair also reveals we might be receiving a large decrease in load times in the future if everything goes to plan.

While it is exciting to see what is to come in future updates, keep in mind that plans can change, and these features are all subject to change. In the meantime, however, come check out some of the new mechanics added by the current update, such as The New Party System. See you next time!
