This month’s Rust update aims to make the game more welcoming to new players through a major overhaul of the team system. Further adjustments are being made to the building, spawning, and Patrol Helicopter to balance them following changes introduced in previous updates. Finally, many quality-of-life changes are being introduced in this wipe as expected. Without further ado, let’s cover everything added by this month’s Rust update.
The biggest change being made to Rust in this update is the introduction of the Party System. The new system is part of the many steps the developers have been taking to make the game friendlier for new players. Friends can be invited to a party through the friends options, which can be found at the bottom right of the main menu. After inviting your friends and connecting to a server, every party member will be automatically connected and begin loading the server. The party system even comes with benefits for experienced players by automatically being placed on a team and spawning near each other. It is important to note you will only spawn near your friends the first time you join the server.

A new dedicated spawn has been added to Outpost, which players can earn through completing an in-game quest. The quest is given by CZ-721, who can be found inside of the Outpost. After completing his quest by traveling to the Fishing Village and back, you will receive the option to spawn at the Outpost once you die. Once spawned at the Outpost, you will have to wait through a 30-minute timer to be able to spawn there again.

Changes are also being made to team invites, streamlining and simplifying the system. As of this Rust update, you can now invite your friends to your team directly through the team interface instead of having to find them in-game. Simply press the Invite button in the bottom left of the team interface to add any of your friends to the team no matter if they are connected to the server or not.

Deployable placing has never been easier with the addition of deployable snapping. Easily place deployable objects in tight spaces by snapping them using the Left Shift key while placing the object. Deployable snapping has two settings: Simple and Advanced.

The simple option will snap objects to walls and nothing more. This allows you to place the item wherever you want while using the wall as a guide. The advanced option follows the same steps as the simple option but also attempts to snap to other deployables, allowing you to place them neatly and compactly together.
Following the untasteful changes made to the Patrol Helicopter many Rust updates back, the developers have decided to address the many complaints they received and have made several changes to the Patrol Helicopter.

As of now, the Patrol Helicopter will always flee towards a monument, only flee a maximum of 1 grid, its flee location will be shown on the map, and the Patrol Helicopter will no longer flee if taken in or near a monument. These changes are supposed to continue to promote the server-wide PVP engagement, which the last changes aimed at improving, while fixing a few of the problems that players found extremely frustrating.
Fixes have been made to roof stabilization meant to address the issues players ran into when building pyramid-shaped bases. The changes fix issues with roofs randomly breaking after a server restart and being impossible to place despite meeting all the requirements. The fixes also mean bases that abused the roof stabilization bug can no longer be created. This includes certain external TC and bunker designs that were frequently used by players.

While the change from this Rust update has led to community outrage, the developers were quick to note that other external TCs and bunkers can still be built, and that the bugs allowing players to build them are intentional.
The Abyss Pack DLC is also receiving new additions this Rust update in the form of vertical and horizontal storage barrels. This is the second addition the Abyss Pack has received following the Sunken Combat Knife added in April’s update.

That’s everything being added by Rust’s July update. The Rust update is live and playable as of July 3rd on every server. Invite some experienced friends or welcome some new players and enjoy all the new features added with the “Friends with Benefits” update.
