Rust Targeting Attachment Explained
Rust’s recent June update added a brand new attachment known as the Targeting Attachment. The freshly added weapon mod allows you to ping enemies, hotspots, and more, without the use of binoculars. The game-changing attachment will forever change how Rust is played through the use of much better communication and improved teamwork.
How to Get The Rust Targeting Attachment
The Targeting Attachment can be researched and crafted inside a Tier 2 Workbench. The item requires 10 High Quality Metal and 1 Tech Trash to create. In addition to crafting it, it is also found rarely inside the green military crates scattered across Rust’s monuments.

How to Use Rust’s Targeting Attachment
Rust’s Targeting Attachment is extremely straightforward in its uses. Once attached to a weapon, simply hit your ping button (Mouse 3 by default), and a mark will be placed for both you and your teammates to see. By default, the mark will be set to alert of hostile enemies; however, by holding down the ping button, you can select specific types of markers. There are 6 total types of markers, including the default hostile marker, a location marker, a valuable marker, a node marker, a loot marker, and a dropped weapon marker, all of which can be used to communicate in different ways.

Overall, Rust’s Targeting Attachment is the perfect choice for your teammate who always just comms “Over there!”. It streamlines communication, allowing for better teamplay between new players all the way up to the most experienced of players. While it may seem useless to many, make no mistake that when used properly, this quality of life tool can change the tide of the battlefield as a whole.
