In Rust’s Raid Hard Upgrade Harder update, the long-forgotten Tin Can Alarm was revitalized through an item rework. Originally, the device served as an audio warning, playing whenever a player would trip the alarm. The new rework allows you to rig traps to the device, turning the alarm deadly. Follow along as we cover everything you need to know about Rust’s new Tin Can Alarm rework.
It is still just as easy to obtain a Tin Can Alarm as the item is both craftable and able to be found in loot pools. Crafting Rust’s Tin Can Alarm requires a total of 100 Wood, 1 rope, and 30 Metal Fragments, making it a nice budget trap. When looting, the alarm can be rarely found in Crates and on the bodies of Scientists.

Rust’s Tin Can Alarm can be rigged with several types of throwable projectiles, making it extremely versatile. To begin, start by placing your tin can alarm in the perimeter of the area you wish to trap. Then drag your mouse and click to set your trip wire and complete the trap placement. Finally, interact with the trap to open a small menu allowing you to place a single projectile inside. Now, once an enemy trips the wire, the projectile will automatically deploy and harm the enemy.

| Projectile | Damage | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Beancan Grenade | 115 | 60x Gunpowder 20x Metal Fragments |
| Bee Grenade | Damage Over Time | 1x Beehive Nucleus 30x Cloth |
| F1 Grenade | 225 | 30x Gunpowder 25x Metal Fragments |
| Flare | N/A | 10x Gunpowder 10x Metal Fragments |
| Smoke Grenade | N/A | 35x Gunpowder 50x Metal Fragments |
| Molotov | Damage Over Time | 10x Cloth 50x Low Grade Fuel |
| Flashbang | 20 | 25x Gunpowder 50x Metal Fragments |
