The Event

The Rust Christmas event is live and has some new features that are different from last year. When the jingle bells ring, presents will begin to spawn all around the player and across the map, and you can hit them with your rock to obtain the presents inside. If you have a stack of 10 presents, you can upgrade it to a new medium present, and with 10 medium presents, you can upgrade it all the way up to large, which has the best loot. From these gifts, you can find resources, weapons, candy, and Christmas goodies such as a candy cane club, snowball gun, reindeer antlers, tree decorations, Santa hats, Pookie bears, and more.

Stockings

You can also find stockings in these gifts. When you place a stocking on the wall it will refill with more fun festive goodies every time the jingle bells ring. This year, however, the stockings have been buffed with coal being removed from the game, and the larger stockings have a higher chance of getting better items.

The Advent Calendar

Furthermore, the advent calendar returns to Rust for the Christmas event. The advent calendar is a crafted deployable that is available to every player during the event. When placed, an in-game surprise can be redeemed from it every day.

Festive Updates

Bandit camp, fishing village, and Outpost have all received a festive makeover with lights, decorations, and more being present all around the safe zones. Also, look up, as you may see Santa flying over with his giant Christmas sack and dropping massive presents full of the best loot.

Festive Buildings

The gingerbread building skin and ice walls have been added back to Rust. The gingerbread building skin allows you to make gingerbread houses inside of Rust for the wood building tier. Both the gingerbread houses and ice walls are free to all players during the event, cost the same resources, and are purely cosmetic.

Gingerbread Mines

The Gingerbread Mines are back for this Rust Christmas event, bringing with them the horror of Christmas as gingerbread men guard the precious loot of the mines with anything they can get their hands on. To enter a mine, just look for a gingerbread house, walk up, and just go through the door. The gingerbread men drop all the same gear as scientists with a few added festivities, as you can find Santa hats, snowball guns, and more from their bodies as well.

Craftable Christmas Tree

A craftable Christmas tree has also been added to Rust, which will be a default blueprint for all players during the event. The tree can be crafted for 500 wood and 30 cloth and be decorated with baubles, pinecones, gingerbread men, and candy canes.
