The latest major update for Counter-Strike 2 came with a few changes related to the overall gameplay experience alongside brand-new map inclusions. With the highly anticipated Cache finally getting placed in the Active Duty Map Pool in exchange for Overpass, that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to new competitive maps for various game modes in Counter-Strike.
Five new community maps, namely Boulder, Fachwerk, Shelter, Debris, and El Dorado, have been added to the game in the Premier Season 5 update. The first three are widely available in Counter-Strike through the Casual, Competitive, and Deathmatch game modes, while the latter two are exclusive to Wingman mode.
Boulder is an incredibly gorgeous map introduced to the map pool from the Steam Workshop, created by users morozov, OrelStealth, Roald, and MadsenFK. They describe it as a map based around a Greek monastery on top of an ancient rock formation.

Boulder is a good map for those who love tight corners and multiple hiding spots. The lack of open areas makes it perfect for close combat and heavily favors players who are more technically brilliant, since different areas of the map really can’t be effectively dealt with using utility.
Fachwerk is another visually stunning map created by OrelStealth. It’s been well received not only by the Counter-Strike 2 community, but even by fans of Team Fortress 2, thanks to a Soldier statue which pays tribute to the late Rick May — the man who voiced the character.

It plays a bit similarly to Boulder but has way more open areas. Some players have left comments on minor adjustments such as language on signs and various aesthetic changes, but the general consensus is that it’s a solid map both to look at and to play.
Shelter is arguably the most popular of all five maps included in the newest update due to its unique selling point: your job is to rescue dogs. Taking advantage of the map’s setting, which is a pet shelter, Shelter is a Hostage Rescue map that features the ultimate objective of bringing pets to safety.

Not only is it a unique take on location, but the level design of having players rescue animals in place of human hostages is also what takes the cake. Shelter is the community map that takes the least amount of time to find a competitive match in, which further emphasizes its popularity lately.
Debris is a 2v2 map created by JimFK and HomeFries, set in a rural town in Madagascar that’s since been the site of a plane crash. Its closest comparison to one of the traditional competitive maps would have to be Inferno, based on both design and map layout, although definitely a shrunk-down version.

El Dorado is a map that gives off serious Ancient vibes, and that was really the creators’ intention anyway. CT Spawn is five steps away from the bomb site, and unlike other maps on this list, the design features quadrilateral shapes for both rooms and open areas.
