CS2 Cache Utility Guide: T Side Smokes and Lineups

The biggest Counter-Strike 2 update of the year has finally arrived with the reintroduction of Cache to the franchise. While it hasn’t been formally added to the active map pool just yet, it’s now available for all players to enjoy in their online games.

Cache is Back!

While the new cache still has shades of a glorious past, it’s been completely revamped, even compared to the version that was originally submitted to the community workshop. This map’s only going to get more play in the coming days, so it’s definitely crucial to know how to maximize utility usage.

Sun Room Execute

Sun Room has always been one of the go-to spots on Cache for throwing utility, and in CS2, it’s no different. One person, with the help of some teammates’ dropped items, can throw a combination of smokes and molotovs towards B Site while the rest of their team pushes up.

The video guide above shows how one person can block off the CT Side’s two main entry points in Tree/Heaven while also setting fire to half of the open area for planting.

Double Smokes From A Main

A Site is arguably a more challenging spot to contest on Cache simply because it’s more open than B and there are so many angles to clear. That being said, two smokes can be thrown towards the middle of the site to block off vision for the enemy players.

Both of these lineups are thrown from the exact same position right before A Main and, just like the Sun Room play, can be done by only one person. It takes a little bit of practice to get the utility lineups just right, but even being a little off-center isn’t that bad, as these lineups are more forgiving than others. Check out a guide on throwing these smokes perfectly here.

Iconic Z Smoke

Z is the most accessible area of the map from CT Spawn and thus will be the defenders’ most guarded area early in the round. Thankfully, a smoke lineup all the way back from Global Offensive already exists and still works to this day.

Getting a hang of the running jump throw can take some practice, especially if you haven’t thrown it before, but it’s definitely easier than another common lineup thrown towards the middle of the map (aka Mirage Window).
