How to Install Rust’s Staging Branch

To begin your journey into accessing the Naval update, you’ll first have to install the staging branch. Rust’s staging branch is automatically added to each player’s Steam library with the purchase of the game, but must be installed separately to be launched.

How to Install Rust’s Staging Branch

After Rust’s staging branch has installed, right-click and view properties, select game versions and betas, and make sure you are on the main branch before launching.

How to Access Rust’s Naval Update Content

Once all is done, launch Rust’s staging branch to enter an experimental edition of the game. All of the menus are the same, allowing players to easily navigate themselves around. Once there, select any server of your preference and connect to it to experience the experimental version of Rust.

The version will feature all of the work-in-progress content the developers are configuring, along with the bugs, glitches, and other issues that come with in-progress work.

Other Content on Rust’s Staging Branch

Along with content for the Naval update was the addition of the Artist Pack DLC, which includes painting frames, canvases, paintable windows, paintball overalls, and even a paintball gun. The large DLC pack comes after several overhauls were made to Rust’s painting system over the last couple of monthly updates.

That covers exactly how you can access Rust’s upcoming Naval update early. The update will be officially launching to Rust’s live servers with the monthly update on February 5th. The majority of Rust’s updates are always added to the staging branch for additional testing, so always make sure to check it out to stay up to date on Rust’s newest upcoming features. See you next time!
