CS2 Souvenir Item Trade Ups Explained

In today’s article, we will take a look at recent changes to the world of Counter-Strike skins, specifically the CS2 Souvenir item trade-up contracts. For years, Souvenir CS2 items have sat in storage units, not pretty enough to be play skins while teasing their owners with what could have been. After this recent update, along with Cologne 2026 Major announcements, the CS2 community has been blessed, or cursed depending on your stance, with the ability to input souvenir trade-ups.

Are CS2 Souvenir Trade Up Contracts Possible?

This depends highly on what is meant by a “Souvenir Trade Up Contract”. To put it simply, Souvenir items used in trade-up contracts do NOT lead to Souvenir Skins as a product. Souvenir Skins can be used entirely on their own for a Trade Up Contract, but the outcome skin will be regular, without any affiliation to the souvenir quality in any way. So to emphasize, no, you cannot Trade Up to that Souvenir Dragon Lore we all know and love.

Can Souvenir and Regular Items be Mixed in CS2 Trade Up Contracts?

Yes, regular skins and Souvenir skins may be mixed within a CS2 Trade Up contract, but this “Souvenir Trade Up” will not result in a Souvenir item; the Souvenir item still acts as a filler skin just the same as any regular old item provided. A Trade Up Contract could be filled entirely with Souvenir filler skins, no filler skins, or any in between.

Additionally, when using Souvenir Items within a Trade Up Contract, a warning will be issued before proceeding with the Trade Up, stating that the Souvenir condition of the items will be removed. Souvenir items cannot be paired with Stattrak CS2 skins, as there are no Stattrak souvenirs. This is not a complete change like the Covert Trade Up update, but simply another addition to the Trade Up Contract system.

A huge shock to the community, some would argue this addition is controversial, while others praise Valve, as thousands of storage units can now be emptied and used for Trade Up Contracts.
