It really goes without saying that Counter-Strike 2 is all about two things: planted bombs and bomb sites. That’s quite literally the entire point of every match played since the franchise began two decades ago.
But of course, like everything in CS2, bomb plants aren’t the most straightforward thing. You can’t just plant them anywhere and play the next few seconds of the round without a care in the world. Everything relies on denying the Counter-Terrorists any chance of defusal, ensuring the enemy team doesn’t steal the round away, and using the bomb’s location to your advantage.
In a team game like CS2, map mastery goes a long way. Thankfully, when it comes to bomb plants, there are only two things every player has to know in each map: A and B sites. The designated bomb sites are the only places that you can put the bomb down, and it’s to be expected that they will always be the most heavily-guarded spots as well.

While you can really place the bomb anywhere on the designated area of a site, some positions are way better than others for countless reasons. Keeping in mind post-plant defending angles, opponents’ tendencies, available weapons, and even known enemy positions. Advanced strategies like faking a plant to bait out enemies are also more common than you’d think and happen at least once a game.
Developing an extra sense of situational awareness will determine how effective your T-side plants become, regardless of whether you practice regularly. Mini map awareness and site control, knowing where your teammates are, and predicting how the opposing team will react are just a few things that attacking players consider before planting.

While having a mental note of the common “safe” planting spots on every map is a solid foundation, getting creative never hurts. Hidden spots that rarely get checked, or even playing around with sound cues to throw other players off, are all part of getting better at planting the bomb. At the end of the day, it’s your C4 against the enemy’s defuse kit.
