Rust recently released a new line of military clothing with June’s Built Different update. The new BDU clothing serves as the best-in-class option for physical protection at the expense of other stats. The new clothing was added to shift the meta by increasing the TTK to make for longer and more intense battles. Follow along as we teach you everything you need to know about Rust’s BDU clothing.
The BDU shirt is the first piece of the BDU clothing collection. Compared to the commonly used hoodie, the BDU shirt offers an exceptional 25% projectile protection, placing it above the hoodie’s 20%. The stats are otherwise similar to the hoodies, with the BDU shirt offering slightly less cold protection. The BDU shirt can only be found in Locked Crates, Heavy Scientists, Scientist Patrols, and Elite Crates.

The other item in the BDU clothing set is the BDU pants. The BDU pants are directly superior to the already existing pants, offering identical stats aside from the additional 5% projectile protection granted by the BDU clothing. The BDU pants, similar to the shirt, can only be found in Locked Crates, Heavy Scientists, Scientist Patrols, and Elite Crates.

That covers everything you need to know about the new BDU clothing inside of Rust. As it stands currently, none of the clothing items is skinnable. Be sure to regularly check both Locked and Elite crates for a chance at finding the new clothing set. Feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think about the addition of the new clothing items and how they affect meta.
