Rust’s june’s monthly update has arrived, bringing major content, quality of life improvements, and updated player models and animations. The Built Different update reshapes the meta, adding a brand new set of armor as well as a new weapon, the M16A2. Follow along as we cover everything added by this large monthly Rust update.
The most jarring change from this month’s Rust update is by far the new player models. Once you log in for the first time, your new character model will be automatically assigned to you. Similar to the current system, whatever model you are given is what you are currently stuck with. Player model customization is planned for Q4 of this year, so you will not be stuck with your current model for too much longer. The new HD models and polished animations are an overall improvement, but take a while to become accustomed to.

The new M16A2 weapon is a low-recoil, accurate assault rifle added with this Rust update. The burst-only weapon is most comparable to the LR, able to output high amounts of damage in a short amount of time due to its high burst fire rate. The damage is slightly reduced compared to the other rifles to balance the potential burst damage. The M16A2 is a military-grade weapon found in loot only.

The new ballistic armor and clothing serve as direct upgrades to Rust’s current meta armor. The armor set is currently loot-only, offering extra physical protection at the cost of reduced environmental stats. There are a total of 5 items within the set, including a ballistic helmet, vest, and leggings, as well as a BDU shirt and BDU pants.

The new Industrial Decor pack added this update brings a total of 20 industrial-themed building items for you to add to your Rust base. The DLC includes skins for barrels, a garage door, the torch, electrical furnaces, shelves, and even the newly skinnable auto turret. The DLC also includes a variant for the otherwise unskinnable Large Furnace, as well as emojis, sprays, and floor papers. The Industrial Decor Pack can be purchased from the Rust item store for $12.99.

The new Bowless Crossbow DLC offers an industrial-themed skin for the crossbow. The skin removes the limbs of the bow, replacing them with a spring-powered firing mechanic. If you like its steampunk-styled design, it can be purchased from the Rust item store for $4.99.

The skin viewer has received major improvements this Rust update with it now allowing you to inspect skins in your hands. The new option can be found at the top of the skin viewer allowing you to swap between 3D view and view in hands settings. The new viewing option shows you exactly what the inspected skin will look like before purchasing giving you the best skin purchasing experience possible.

After the addition of the Rust x Discord store in last month’s update, the two have partnered once again to release a Wumpus plushie inside of Rust. The plushie can only be obtained by purchasing it through the new Rust x Discord store. The Discord exclusive item can be purchased for $3.00, providing 70% comfort once crafted using 50 cloth.

A new Rust drop event is set to start with this month’s update, beginning on June 11th. A total of 14 drops will be available for players to collect across multiple Kick channels. The event runs all the way until June 21st, serving as the 2nd wave of Rust x Kick drops. Remember to link your accounts on the official Rust x Kick drops website to receive your items.

Rust has once again partnered with Youtooz, this time to release a furnace night light. The nightlight perfectly captures the look of a lit Rust furnace emitting a small orange glow. Unlike the other Youtooz items, you will not receive any in-game rewards for purchasing the item.

That covers everything added in this month’s Rust update. Be sure to log in and check out your brand new player model as well as some of the other features added this month. If you enjoyed this blog, feel free to check out the other blogs on our page. See you next time!
