What’s In The New CS2 Update?

Along with the yearly tradition that is April Fool’s Day, Valve rolled out a substantial content update for Counter-Strike 2 on April 1, 2025. The new CS2 update features mostly cosmetic changes, including a new limited edition item, fresh armory content, and four weapon collections alongside map adjustments with Inferno and Train changes.

A New Limited Edition Item in the Armory

Replacing the Desert Eagle | Heat Treated as the limited edition item in the Armory is the XM1014 | Solitude, which also comes in a variety of different patterns. The Solitude’s design depends on what pattern one gets and can vary from different kinds of landscapes to even whether or not the backdrops show a sunny day or a starry night. Due to its limited nature, it will also be the most expensive item to purchase among all the Armory content.

Three New Counter-Strike 2 Skin Collections

The highlight of Valve’s most recent CS2 update was the introduction of three new weapon collections, namely the Ascent, Boreal, and Radiant collections. Each one is themed with a different color palette, with Ascent being more focused on the blue and purple hues, Boreal fittingly featuring green-colored skins, and finally Radiant showcasing brighter colors like red and orange.

Overviews of each collection will be posted on our blog soon after the collections are released:

The M4A1-S | Stratosphere is the highlight of the Ascent Collection, featuring a drawing of the earth from outer space, the Boreal Collection shows off a new vibrant green skin with the AWP | Green Energy, and finally the Radiant Collection is headlined by the uniquely patterned AK-47 | Nouveau Rouge.

These three collections will not exist in the game as cases that can be opened by keys. Just like in the Armory’s original set of content, credits earned from the Armory Pass can be exchanged to obtain a drop from either of the three collections or anything else available in the item menu.

An All-New Train 2025 Collection

The Train Collection has already been around for years, but with its revamp and Active Duty Map Pool debut in CS2 recently, it was only fitting that Valve also gave the Train Collection a fresh new look for 2025. Skins like the UMP-45 | Late Night Transit, Mac-10 | Derailment, and AWP | LongDog all take inspiration from the map’s design. The Train 2025 Collection is an assortment of colorful, vibrant skins that will easily become a favorite for those who prefer loud designs.

New CS2 Case: Fever Case

The only new case introduced into Counter-Strike 2 from this update is the Fever Case, which comes with 17 new weapon finishes alongside an assortment of knives. Just like the Train 2025 Collection, the Fever Case has a lot of well-designed skins that would really stand out in any inventory. Probably the most popular of the bunch already is the AWP | Printstream, which just so happens to be the newest addition to the Printstream skin family.

The Fever Case is also available for purchase from the Armory, and just like normal cases, it requires a key (purchased separately) to open.

Inferno and Train Changes

The only notable gameplay changes that came with this update are minor changes to both Inferno and Train. Valve’s goal was ultimately to reduce clutter around the areas especially from a visual standpoint, with some bug fixes to go along as well.

On Inferno, the biggest difference was to Banana. Known as one of the most popular and heavily-contested parts of said map, they adjusted Banana to closely match the size of its appearance in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. There were also some visual updates spread across Inferno, such as simplified-background by Upper B Entrance, adjusted Player and Grenade collision, and even removed pixel gap at Coffin.

Train, meanwhile, did not completely focus on one single part of the map compared to Inferno’s Banana. Some of the gameplay updates that were made to Train include simplified back wall by Z Door, replaced see through fences, and also fixed grenade collision on Upper B Arch.
