Valve Releases Steam Community Market UI Update in Beta Testing

Valve has just released a fresh new user interface (UI) for the Steam Community Market, and by the looks of things, the overall goal of said update is to make the process of searching for specific items or types of items much easier.

The Steam Community Market update has not yet been completely rolled out and is currently in a beta testing phase. Users are encouraged to share feedback about the new UI and, should they choose not to use it at the moment, can always revert back to the traditional community market look with the same functionality.

Drop-Down List When Searching

In the main search bar of the Steam Community Market, which can be found right above the “Show advanced options” tab, searching for a specific item’s name will give you a list of similar items to what you were looking for.

For example, typing “AWP” in the search bar without pressing enter to complete the action will result in a scrollable list appearing featuring different kinds of AWP skins available on the Steam Community Market, and even results for the new Charm attachment that has the term “AWP” in its name.

Advanced Options

If you click on the “Show advanced options” button, the revamped UI will lead you to a pop-up screen that looks a whole lot different from what it used to be. With “In Game Items” selected, the newly opened tab will give you a list of your recently played games with items for quick navigation, as well as a drop-down list of pretty much every game on Steam that supports the feature.

On the other hand, with “Steam Items” selected, the tab will give you a list of every game that has these items and their different categories, such as Trading Cards, Emoticons, and even Booster Packs. You can also set minimum and maximum prices, as well as choose which rarity or event they are from.

While there is no set date yet for Valve’s full implementation of this new Steam Community Market interface, this seemingly simple quality-of-life update to the client has definitely earned a positive reception from the online community.
