After the recent Rust October Meta Shift update, a new type of crate was added to the game, spawning specifically on shores. The new Shore Crate was designed to give players a small boost when starting out. The rare crates are quite hard to come across, meaning most players do not know what these mysterious crates contain. Follow along as we cover every item obtainable from Rust’s Shore Crate.
Check out the rest of the Meta Shift update in our update guide:
Shore crates were added to Rust as a way to offer provisions to players at the beginning of their Rust journey. The boxes that have the same model and loot pool as Rust’s food crate can be found washed up along the shores and beaches of Rust’s island. Shore crates are extremely rare to come across, especially on high-population servers due to their low supply and high respawn time.

The following items are obtainable from Rust’s Shore Crates.
| Item | Quantity | Spawn Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Anti-Radiation Pills | 1-3 | 35% |
| Water Jug | 500 mL | 35% |
| Small Water Bottle | 120 mL | 19% |
| Small Water Bottle | 1-3 | 19% |
| Chocolate Bars | 1-3 | 19% |
| Potatoes | 1-3 | 19% |
| Apples | 1-3 | 19% |
| Cans of Tuna | 1-3 | 19% |
