Rust Player Model Changes

The new Rust player model replaces the old model after over a whole 10 long years of use, bringing improved meshes, realistic proportions, and a new animation rig. The new models allow the developers to push the game forward, helping them to make the necessary improvements to characters and animations, including a character customization system planned for December. The new models feature an expanded number of heads, each with unique high-quality details; this also includes new hairstyles and beards for every model. Clothing items have been slightly adjusted to fit the new player models, fixing potential clipping issues, with some receiving new assets.

Rust Animation System Improvements

The reason behind Rust’s new player models was to improve Rust’s player animations from a third-person perspective. With the new models comes a new animation system that allows developers to create better and smoother animations. Some of the animations have already been rolled out, with more to come in future updates.
