With Rust’s new Built Different update, a new military-grade burst rifle, the M16A2, was added to the game. It is currently being hyped up as a new meta rifle due to its powerful stats. The 5.56 rifle is capable of powerful, accurate, low-recoil bursts at a high rate of fire. Follow along as we teach you everything you need to know about the M16A2.
The M16A2 is extremely limited and very rare to come across, being exclusively limited to the loot pools of locked crates. With about a 12% probability to spawn, you will have to explore multiple of Rust’s endgame monuments to have a chance at finding the new burst rifle.

| Stats | M16A2 |
|---|---|
| Damage | 35 |
| Rate of Fire | 600 RPM |
| Aim Cone | 0.25° |
| Capacity | 30 |
| Reload Speed | 4s |
| Draw Speed | 1.5s |
The M16A2 can be recycled at a standard recycler for 24 High Quality Metal, a Metal Spring, and a Burst Module with an extra chance for a Rifle Body. At a safezone recycler, the weapon recycles for only 16 High Quality Metal with an extra chance to grant a Metal Spring, Burst Module, or Rifle Body.

The M16A2 is much more powerful when paired with the right set of attachments. A holo sight and laser can be added to increase accuracy and reduce the aim cone at long range, while a muzzle boost can be added to seriously boost the fire rate at the cost of a small amount of accuracy. This combination allows for fast, long-range bursts of powerful bullets.

That’s everything you need to know about Rust’s new M16A2 rifle. Explore Oil Rigs, hijack the Cargo Ship, dive into an Underwater Lab, or drift into the Deep Sea as you search locked crates looking to find the alluring weapon.
