With Rust’s April Spring Clean update, a variety of new content was added, including the long-awaited armored ladder hatch. The tier 3 hatch serves as a direct upgrade to the standard ladder hatch, featuring more health and unique features. Follow along as we cover everything you need to know about the new armored ladder hatch.
Obtaining Rust’s armored ladder hatch is currently limited to crafting only. The armored ladder hatch can be researched if dropped by another player or learned through the Workbench Level 3’s tech tree. The item comes in two separate forms, standard and triangular; each must be researched separately, requiring 65 Scrap. Crafting the hatch requires a wooden ladder, 35 high-quality metal, and 6 gears.

The new armored ladder hatch comes with several features that make it superior to the standard ladder hatch. For one, the hatch features 4x the health points of the standard hatch, handling 250 explosive ammo before breaking. The hatch also features a physical round door that can be used as cover when opened. Several hatches can be connected vertically as the ladders align perfectly, allowing for easy climbing.

The armored ladder hatch can be recycled like all other items in Rust. Once recycled, the armored ladder hatch grants 21 high-quality metal and 3 gears by default, with a 60% chance to grant an extra ladder or gear. The yield amount depends on the type of recycler used, with a safe zone recycler granting 2/3rds the rewards of a standard one, bringing the values down to 14 high-quality metals and 2 gears, respectively.

| Stats | Ladder Hatch | Armored Ladder Hatch |
|---|---|---|
| Health | 250 | 1000 |

| Workbench Level | Workbench Level 2 | Workbench Level 3 |
