New CS2 Animation System Explained

In this article, we will be taking a look at the CS2 Animgraph 2 update, which was recently released. Featuring a plethora of new additions to Counter Strike 2, from changing the weapon deploy animation system to even movement appearance, this update has a lot to talk about!

New Animation System: Animgraph 2

CS2’s animation system has been updated to Animgraph 2. This higher-end animation system allows for lower CPU and network costs related to animation. This also introduces a variety of new possibilities, including new CS2 player animations, new movement animations, and changes to various visual aspects of CS2.

New CS2 Player Animations

In previous years of Counter-Strike 2 and even CSGO, you could not see other players’ weapon animations while looking at them. Entirely client-side buying that knife with special knife animations was something only you could experience up until now. Additionally, when holding the CS2 Karambit knife, it is now positioned properly in third-person view, something that had annoyed a large portion of the community prior to this change.

New CS2 Movement Animation

Not famously known for a fantastic movement animation system, CS2 has finally fixed the choppy movement animations we’ve had for so long. Making walking, jumping, and moving side to side much smoother, this is a fantastic quality-of-life fix. Not exactly game-breaking, but not a small addition either, these changes are among the most prominent in the new CS2 animation update.

Other Things Brought with the Animgrah 2 Update

In addition to the animation system changes, the primary focus of the update, Valve has also changed a few small things, such as C4 equip sounds, and minor animation/ holo skin effects. One skin in particular, the M4A4 Polysoup, can be seen in the new beta launcher with a changed holo effect across the body. It is possible that other skins have been changed, but for the most part, the M4A4 Polysoup is the only one of note at the moment.
