CS2 Reloading Update Explained

The latest update for Counter-Strike 2 didn’t include any anti-cheat improvements or a Cache inclusion; however, it may just be one of the most impactful changes the game has had since release. With the Guns, Guides, and Games update, reloading mechanics have taken a big step towards a new direction.

Muscle Memory Needs To Be Unlearned After the New CS2 Reloading Update

A lot of veteran players have definitely gotten used to reloading without completely emptying the magazine, and that’s really because it’s the most logical thing to do. Say you’ve used a few bullets from your rifle and want to go into the next firefight with full capacity, just press your reload key, and a couple rounds from your remaining ammo will be placed on top of how many the current magazine is already carrying.

Thanks to the Guns, Guides, and Games update, every time a weapon is reloaded, the entire magazine will get dumped. It doesn’t matter if you have half a mag of leftover ammo or a single bullet remaining; everything that’s in the clip is gone.

Reloading Mechanics Now Come With Higher Stakes

In the past, CS2’s ammunition situation made it seem like there was an essentially endless reserve supply (especially when it comes to certain weapons). Now, ammo management and keeping track of one’s ammo count will take more careful consideration than ever.

The total amount of rounds, such as how many reserve mags are available for each weapon, has also been changed on a variety of weapons. Staples like the AWP and M4A1-S got nerfed this way, while lesser-used guns such as the PP-Bizon received more reserve ammunition.

Other Notes From Counter-Strike 2’s Newest Update

While the reloading part of the update is what people will focus on the most, that wasn’t the only thing that changed with the Guns, Guides, and Games patch. Smoke tutorials in the form of map guides are now available in competitive matches for a limited number of rounds, and custom games have officially been added to CS2.
