Is there Any Benefit of Playing CS2 With Bots?

Bots used to be regular occurrences in competitive mode matches way back before the days of Counter-Strike 2, but they’ve since been removed. Still, bots in CS2 exist, albeit with a lot less presence overall compared to before.

Now relegated to non-competitive modes and solo practice maps, bots in CS2 are no longer something the average player would run into during a session of Counter-Strike. Instead, they can be spawned in and out through console commands and have their bot difficulty adjusted in practice. While all that is neat and still something a player can utilize, is there still any benefit in doing so?

CS2 Bot Difficulty Can Be Changed For Your Needs

If you’re practicing on your own and just need a couple of targets, you can set up bots in CS2 to the lowest skill level through console commands and essentially have some chill aim training. If you want a competitive simulation without the risk of actually losing in a real game, then bot difficulty can also be set to the maximum.

You Can Adjust Bot Difficulty For Your Needs

The developer console allows you to change how the bots move almost instantly, which makes playing with bots in CS2 a great practice method. Experienced players will tell you that deathmatch before a competitive game is the move, but then again, everyone finds different things that work best.

CS2 Bots Can Fill Up Different Counter-Strike 2 Game Modes

You can practice with bots in deathmatch, team deathmatch, and even (to some extent) the classic bomb defusal mode. Of course, don’t expect something perfectly close to how true gameplay would look like, but it’s close enough that it works.

Why not hop onto a dedicated server or Deathmatch/Casual mode instead? Well, sometimes you just don’t want to interact with others and train by yourself. There’s nothing wrong with going through the motions of a real game alongside bots, and you’d even be surprised how good some of them are.

The Verdict: Yes, There Is a Benefit of Playing CS2 With Bots

The “chill” game modes and private servers are always there, but sometimes the pressure isn’t what’s driving you to play and improve. Hop on one of many workshop maps, spawn a few bots, and just go crazy. At the end of the day, they’re in the game for a reason, and practicing with them has always been an effective use of one’s time.
