How to Understand Rust Minicopter Damage Indicators

The September Rust Maintenance update added new damage indicators for Rust’s Minicopter, marking newly set health stages as the Minicopter receives damage. The goal of these changes is to provide clearer feedback on the state of the Minicopter’s health status to the players attacking it. Without further ado, let us show you exactly how Rust’s Minicopter damage indicators work.

What Are Minicopter Damage Indicators?

The developers tried to meet their goal by giving the Minicopter two separate stages excluding the default stage the Minicopter starts at, each of the separate stages trigger at 65% health, and 20% health respectively. During each stage, the Minicopter shifts visually into a further damaged and destroyed form.

65% Health Indicator

After hitting 350 or 45% health, the Minicopter will leave its default state and enter a minorly damaged form. A billow of smoke will begin to rise from the machine’s propellers, while sparks will begin to shoot out of the engine. Once a Minicopter enters this stage, it’s safe to assume it’s able to be taken out with a single homing missile.

20% Health Indicator

Once the Minicopter reaches 150 or 20% health, it will enter the next health stage. In this stage, the amount of smoke rising from the flying machine increases while flames begin to accumulate on and around its engine. If you see a Minicopter in this stage, there is a good possibility you can shoot it out if using an assault rifle or some other long-range weapon.

That’s everything you need to know about the Minicopter damage indicators added to Rust. If you enjoyed this article, feel free to check out one of our others covering changes made to the mechanics of Rust’s Patrol Helicopter a couple of months ago. See you next time!
