CS2 Map Callouts: Vertigo Callouts

Vertigo is a relatively old map in the Counter-Strike franchise, but its revamp for the release of Global Offensive and further overhauls along the years has made it a popular choice when it is in the Active Duty Map Pool. It just recently got removed in January 2025 for a reworked version of Train, but still remains a heavily played map online in ranked matchmaking. Still, it’s only a matter of time before it returns to the competitive map pool which makes learning all the Vertigo callouts an important part of the CS player experience.

All CS2 Vertigo Callouts

Under Stairs: The area beneath B Stairs that provides a view of the underside of Catwalk. Can shoot bullets through here and gain sneaky kills when attacking B Site.

B Stairs: The staircase leading from T Spawn toward B Site, serving as the primary entrance for Ts when attacking the site coming from their side of the map. Utility, such as HE Grenades and Incendiary Grenades, are usually thrown here early in the round to prevent quick advances.

Underpass: A narrow corridor connecting Bridge to B Stairs, commonly used by Ts to rotate between bombsite approaches. Found in the lower floor of Vertigo, this provides a quick rotation passageway for players moving from A to B or vice-versa.

underpass vertigo cs2

Save Spot: A tucked-away corner between Underpass and Bridge, often used by players to hide weapons during eco rounds, giving rise to its name. A common spot for players to hide at the end of rounds, but surprisingly not commonly checked itself.

save spot vertigo cs2

Big Box: A large wooden crate positioned between A Ramp and Bridge, offering Ts cover when approaching A Ramp and scouting for defenders. Especially from opposing snipers, taking cover behind the box can mean the difference between a hitmarker and a fatal shot.

Bridge: A small metal bridge extending from the Save Spot area to A Ramp. Players sometimes toss weapons off Bridge to prevent enemies from retrieving them at the end of the round. You can also jump over the railing, but it will result in your death.

Sheets: A small indented spot near A Ramp that contains a stack of construction materials.

Ladder: A climbable structure next to Underpass that provides a direct route to T Mid from the lower area of the map, making it one of the fastest vertical transitions in all of Vertigo. The upper floor of this area is also referred to as Ladder Room.

Toilets: Two portalets located at T Spawn, which function as an interactive element that can be used to conceal players or weapons. Also considered a meme hiding spot.

A Ramp: A wooden ramp that connects the area past Bridge/Big Box to the main part of A Site. One of the key positions in Vertigo with a lot of site control dependent on successfully advancing from A Ramp.

Fence: A raised platform adjacent to A Ramp and across from A Site, providing CTs with a vantage point to check Dark and fend off A pushes.

Sand Bags: Two stacked sandbags positioned in the corner between Fence and the rest of A Site. A common hiding spot and one of the most crucial to clear completely by players on the Terrorist side when going to A.

Back B: The farthest corner of bombsite B near Catwalk, featuring a tall metal pole that defenders use for cover when holding B or dancing around to waste time.

back b vertigo cs2

Catwalk: A metal path linking Back B and B Stairs to the main building. It’s open air and easy to fall off the map, so extra care and attention is required when walking along here.

Electric Box (EBox): A large, square box positioned between CT Spawn and B Site, frequently used as cover by the team on B Site.

Conclusion

Even though Vertigo is no longer part of the current Active Duty Map Pool in Counter-Strike 2, it’s still a classic map and played by a big chunk of the game’s population. Knowing its many callouts can be confusing, especially given its unique layout with lots of corners and specifics to understand, but through steady play and consistent usage of the proper terms it will eventually become almost second nature when fighting on this map.
