In the simplest terms possible, Counter-Strike 2 is divided into two concepts: attacking a bomb site and defending said location. While the Counter-Terrorists will always get to either site first by default, maintaining control of said position is an entirely different challenge—especially once the roles are reversed.
Defending a bomb site requires more than just precise aim against the enemy team. Knowledge of potential smoke grenade landing spots, strong team coordination, and basic bomb timer knowledge (if necessary).
Let’s get this straight: defending a bomb site applies for BOTH teams in the course of a round. Counter-Terrorists will naturally do this first to try and prevent the attackers from getting a plant down, while the Ts will take over and prevent any retakes from happening after getting the bomb planted.
Whoever is defending the bomb site should start with one basic strategy: utility usage. Throwing a combination of smoke grenades and incendiary/molotovs towards the site’s entry points should be a given regardless of ELO.

Those precious seconds saved will force the enemies to rethink their overall placement on the map, and may even force them to rotate away altogether. This can create openings for other members of the team situated away from the site to pick up quick kills on nearby enemies.
First and foremost, defending the bomb site should never be done alone (unless the situation absolutely calls for it). Having a well-coordinated team that knows both each other’s and the enemy’s positions will be key in the successful defense of any site.

On the CT side, there’s no reason for a defuse kit not to be present in a round. Even during hard eco scenarios, at least one person must have a defuse kit.
Other basics of bomb site defending include knowing common hiding places, mini map awareness, and knowledge of whether or not the bomb itself is in action. Defending Ts must avoid getting caught off guard with ninja defuses as much as possible, while the CTs’ main goal is to ensure that the bomb never gets armed in the first place.
