Rust Apartment Complex: How to Rent and Use Shops

With Rust’s Common Ground update, brand new rentable shops were introduced to the game. These shops allow players to safely list items for sale without the risk of giving up their base location. The shopfronts are also extremely convenient for apartment residents, as they can be found in the apartment complex. Follow along as we guide you on how to rent and use your very own shopfront.

Rust Rentable Shops: How to Rent a Shop

To rent a Rust shop, head to the shop area of the Apartment Complex and find a vacant shopfront. Interact with the shop to open the renting menu. Renting a Rust shop costs an initial payment of 220 Scrap. 100 Scrap is for the initial down payment of the shop, while the other 120 goes towards upkeep for 12 hours. The shop will need to be consistently upkept, requiring 10 scrap an hour, totaling 240 scrap per day. If the shop is not upkept, you will lose access to it and be forced to purchase a new one if you wish to continue vending.

Rust Rentable Shops: Shopfront Features

Rust’s rentable shop works identically to a standard vending machine but with a few extra features. You can interact with the shopkeeper to open and administrate your own shop. The administrate tab allows you to view your current stock while also granting the ability to create up to seven sell orders. Opening the shop’s storage allows you to view your upkeep cost, restock your inventory, and claim the profits from any sales you might have made. Unlike other vending machines, the shop includes a paintable sign serving as a way to advertise your shop to anyone passing by. While the shops are located inside the safe zone of the apartment complex, they do not include drone access.
