In Rust’s new Common Ground update, the Apartment Complex monument was added, allowing players to live in an entirely new type of base. Apartments come in three tiers: Basement, Standard, and Penthouse, each offering the necessities you need to survive, along with several amenities. In this blog, we will show you how to rent your very own apartment, as well as how to maintain it to prevent yourself from losing your cozy new base.

Rust Apartment Complex: How to Rent an Apartment

To rent an apartment, first, you will need to head over to the Apartment Complex monument with a decent chunk of scrap. Next, head into the building marked by graffiti text reading “Room 4 Rent” to enter the main apartment complex. Then, check in at the front desk to rent a room of your choice. Each room will cost a different amount of scrap depending on the tier. The number of rooms is limited, so you may have to go to the Apartment Complex earlier in the week to get the room of your choosing.

Rust Apartment Complex: How to Upkeep Your Apartment

Once you have rented the apartment of your choice, head inside the given room number to make yourself at home. Inside the apartment, next to the entrance, you will find a small box able to hold Scrap. This box serves as the apartment’s tool cupboard and must be maintained to keep access to your apartment. If you are unable to pay rent for a total of 24 hours, you will lose access to your apartment and the items inside.

Rust Apartment Complex: How to Upgrade Your Apartment

If you are tired of living in a Basement or Standard apartment room and wish to upgrade, then you are in luck. Simply talk to the same NPC you used to rent your apartment, and you will now have the option to upgrade rooms. If a room of a higher tier is available, you can upgrade at a discounted price. The price is determined by the Scrap deposit cost of the apartment tier you wish to upgrade to, minus the Scrap deposit cost of your current apartment. Once you upgrade apartments, you will be given a new room number, and all of your items inside the old apartment will be automatically transferred.
