The first half of the CS2 esports year and the first Counter-Strike 2 Major of 2026 have wrapped up, and there’s really never been a lack of action from the professional scene. While there have been multiple major tournament victors in recent months, anyone who has paid close attention can identify several teams that really took the game to the next level and stood well above the rest.
There’s really nothing to say when it comes to Vitality other than they have been the very best CS2 team throughout the first half of 2026. Their consistency is unmatched, the individual skill from everyone on the server is brilliant, and they’re always at the very top of the world rankings.

While their last two events finally proved that they aren’t immortal, with definitive losses to Natus Vincere and Falcons, Vitality still boasts one of the best rosters ever assembled across any organization in history. They’ve won five trophies this year already, more than any other team, and all of that success came from consecutive victories as well.
Counter-Strike’s latest kings, the Falcons, have had a challenging year up until the IEM Cologne Major, where, for the first time in history, they secured the win and cemented their names in the game’s history books forever.

Their star player, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, also finally got the one thing he had been waiting for his entire life, which made the final result even more special. Falcons have jumped up to #2 on the world rankings of both HLTV and Valve, making them the undisputed second-best team at the moment.
Given the absolute gauntlet the Falcons had to go through, their IEM Cologne victory is regarded as one of the toughest Major victories of all time.
Barring the fact that they underperformed at the IEM Cologne Major, Natus Vincere were the only team to really hold a candle to Vitality’s success in the first half of 2026. Most notably, they denied Vitality yet another perfect run at IEM Atlanta with a 2-1 quarterfinal elimination.

NAVI have raised two trophies this year already at ESL Pro League Season 23 and at IEM Atlanta. They peaked at #2 on both world rankings and are currently still in the top five despite their Major defeat.
