While far from the most loaded update that Valve has pushed out this year, the CS2 new update, named “Show Off,” has a load of new additions when it comes to, well, showing off.
The Show Off update is the first relatively big release of September for CS2, and it comes with a new skin collection, better in-game sounds, and an all-new way to enjoy cosmetics.
Definitely the biggest change of this entire update — and the one that the online community has been talking about ever since its release not too long ago — is the Genesis Collection with the all-new Genesis Uplink Terminal.

The Genesis Collection is the only new custom finish set included with the update. There are 17 skins featured, including the AK-47 | The Oligarch, MP7 | Smoking Kills, and AWP | Ice Coated, among others.
The Genesis Uplink Terminal is an all-new feature within the game, which is shown as a different way to get the latest skins. It’s obtainable along with the weekly drops and comes sealed, making it tradable and marketable.

As explained by developer Gabe Follower on X, the Genesis Uplink Terminal gives you up to five options for a choice of skin that you can purchase. All options will, as the name suggests, be from the Genesis Collection.
Unlike traditional CS2 cases, the skins that will be shown by the “Arms Dealer” have the option to purchase them for varying prices (depending on rarity/tier) and the option to skip if you do not like the skin being offered. You can skip a total of five times, and after the fifth time, the Uplink Terminal will no longer be usable.

This update is only a few hours old, and lots of players/community contributors have already taken to social media to showcase how it works. As always, there are very mixed reactions about the Genesis Uplink Terminal, but it does make you wonder as to whether or not it could be Valve’s replacement for the “loot box” system of cases anytime soon.

You can view the rest of the update’s patch notes on the official Steam blog.
