Rust’s monthly update has arrived with November’s Pivot or Die update. While the originally intended Naval Update had to be delayed for polishing, the developers were still sure to leave us with plenty of content for the month. Strap in as we cover everything added by Rust’s Pivot or Die update.
Box sorting settings have been added to Rust with the update as part of the already-existing Storage Adaptor. The revamped item has now been given a power input and several box sorting settings to choose from. Sort your items by condition, count, category, or even alphabetically, making your base much more organized. A special custom snapshot mode allows you to set up the container as you wish, take a snapshot of it, and the storage adaptor will automatically try to sort the container to match the layout of your dreams.

By far the biggest changes made in Rust’s Pivot or Die update are to the game’s progression system. The changes come from a continued push from the developers to experiment with Rust’s staling progression systems. The prices of researching items have been drastically reduced to reduce the resource gap between new and experienced players. The issue arises from most servers not blueprint wiping for months at a time, which leaves many players with every blueprint unlocked and a massive advantage on the day of a map wipe. Furthermore, the scrap requirement cost for Workbenches has been removed entirely, making them easier to obtain. The new research prices are as follows:
A new mini fridge deployable was added to Rust, offering a smaller alternative to Rust’s full-sized fridge. The small fridge requires 3 power, holds 18 items, and can fit under half-height ceilings. It can be learned inside the Engineering Workbench for 15 scrap and requires a level 1 workbench and 50 metal fragments to craft.

The Monument Puzzle Loot system has received a large overhaul, changing the way loot spawns and interacts with players. With the new system, monument loot will begin a 30-minute respawn timer once a player loots a container inside of the monument’s puzzle room. The loot refresh timers now tick down even when players are in the radius, fixing an issue that stopped loot from respawning when players were camping nearby. Monuments will also now produce radiation near loot rooms and puzzle elements, such as fuses, several minutes before loot is due to respawn. Once the radiation begins, puzzles will reset after no players have been near them for 5 minutes. Finally, the areas detecting player presence near monuments have been shrunk so as not to account for players who aren’t camping or actively looting. The changes intend to promote monument PvP while discouraging the camping of blueprint fragment spawns which was occuring ever since Rust’s Meta Shift Update.

Medical syringes can be applied to horses, providing a significant amount of health, a temporary speed boost, and a small amount of stamina. The speed boost increases the horse’s speed by 12.6km/h for a total of 4 seconds. To apply a medical syringe to a horse, right-click them as if you were healing a teammate, and the horse will be injected with the stimulant.

Several nerfs have hit both helicopters and vehicles this Rust update, adding a bit more counter-play for those facing them. First off, thrown flares no longer interact with homing missiles when thrown from a helicopter, allowing the launcher to pose a significant threat against any flying vehicles. A set of flare launchers has been added to both the Minicopter and Scrap Transport Helicopter to counterbalance this. Furthermore, helicopters can no longer be repaired in-flight; this means that after absorbing a significant amount of damage, players will be forced to land and repair their aircraft. Finally, you will no longer be able to use healing items such as berries or med kits when piloting any type of vehicle.

A total of 9 new CCTV Cameras have been added across both the Cargo Ship and Ferry Terminal. The cameras give you multiple new views around each of the monuments.

Rust’s painting menu received a small overhaul with the addition of a color wheel. The color wheel allows you to pick the exact color you want using either a color picker or by entering hexcodes. The feature also introduces the ability to favorite up to 10 colors, allowing for ease of access while painting.

A New RPG-7 Launcher DLC was added to Rust with the update at the price of $6.99. The new RPG-7 launcher skin functions almost the same as a normal Rocket Launcher with the same stats and ammunition types. The Russian launcher skin offers a unique model, sounds, and even a special ADS animation. The new animation allows you to accurately shoot using your crosshair, offering a slight pay-to-win visual advantage.

Kick has partnered with Rust, introducing a brand new set of Kick Drops you can obtain inside of Rust. A total of 14 drops will be available as they are slowly revealed every day. Check out our article covering all the current information about Rust Kick Drops here.

A new Rust X Youtooz collab has begun introducing unique Rust-themed plushies, stickers, and figurines, which you can add to your IRL collection. When purchasing any of the Rust X Youtooz plushies, you will be emailed a redemption code for your very own in-game plush item. Each of the three Rust X Youtooz plushies can be crafted for 50 cloth.

That’s everything added in this month’s Rust Meta Shift Update. While not much gameplay content was added, let’s see how the Naval Update comes along as the developers continue to tease us about its release. Look forward to additional coverage of this update on our blog. See you next time!
