Tigers And Panthers

The first two Rust jungle animals added can be grouped together as they function the same, outside of their appearance. Each big cat stealthily stalks humans through the jungle, lurking in foliage as they slowly track their prey. Once they’ve gotten close enough to the player, they will growl, letting you know they are about to pounce lightly. Be careful; if you make eye contact for too long, the cats will notice and begin to chase. The best way to take out either of these deadly beasts is through ranged weapons, and the newly added hunter vision tea, which allows you to track animal footsteps.

Each of Rust’s cats drops 19 big cat meat, which you can eat for seven health, 120 calories, and one hydration. They also provide 100 animal fat, 70 cloth, 70 leather, and 150 bone fragments. You can also use the meat to craft a big cat pie, which grants you the hunter vision effect for 15 minutes. The new jungle animals can also have their corresponding skulls harvested using a skinning knife.

Crocodiles

Crocodiles spawn in the jungle biome’s broad and deep rivers. The reptiles are extremely fast in the water and cannot be outmaneuvered. However, they slow down immensely when forced to travel on land, allowing players to kite them.

Rust Crocodile

Once harvested, Rust’s crocodiles provide 120 animal fat, 30 cloth, 170 leather, 170 bone fragments, and 19 crocodile meat, which, when cooked and eaten, restores 5 health, 100 calories, and 1 hydration. However, unlike Rust’s other jungle animals, the crocodile does not provide any special items.

Snakes

The final new piece of life added to the Rust jungle is snakes. The blue snakes are hard to spot, only appearing when the player steps close. The animal can be far more challenging to kill, vanishing quickly after it attacks and moving to a random nearby location. If you get struck, the snake applies a slow-acting venom that can be deadly at the wrong time. Be careful while chasing predators through the new biome; if a snake catches you, you may become prey.

Rust Snakes

Snake Loot Pool

Rust’s snakes, by far, provide the least amount of loot when harvested, granting five raw snake meat, 10 animal fat, and 4 snake venom. Snake meat has equivalent stats to the Crocodile meat, giving the user five health, 100 calories, and one hydration when cooked and eaten. Snake venom can be used to craft incapacitating darts for the blowpipe, which provide a blinding and slowing effect to players.

That’s all for Rust’s new cast of Jungle animals. Remember, you will not find the new wildlife in any other biomes or forest areas; they spawn exclusively in the new biome. If you enjoyed this article, be sure to check out others such as The Best Rust Sleeping Bags. See you next time!
