Pistol rounds have always been the greatest test of raw skill and, sometimes, luck in a Counter-Strike 2 game. These are the first rounds in a half and are usually the only time both the CTs and Ts are evenly-matched, however there are still a variety of factors apart from aim that can propel one team above the other.
First and foremost, the Counter-Terrorists will always have the USP-S as their default pistol. It’s a silenced handgun with 12 rounds in a magazine that excels at long range. There’s also a kind of placebo effect that happens as a result of the gun’s silencer being equipped, which makes some players feel like their shots are more accurate.

By default, CTs have superior map control since they spawn either on top or very close to the bomb site. Players on the T side might not opt to purchase utility in order to save team economy, which further tilts the pistol round in the defenders’ favor.
Anyone who’s also played enough CS will tell you that CTs are at a disadvantage when it comes to financials over the course of a team game. The fact that it’s only pistols (except in the case of a select few pieces of utility bought) levels the playing field and makes winning pistol rounds all the more crucial.
It’s important to note that the Glock-18 has significantly more ammunition and a higher fire rate than the USP-S, making short-range and prolonged fights against the Ts challenging. Always keeping distance and, if possible, ending encounters early will set your team up for success.
Saving economy is a very common and logical thing to do, but it’s always great practice to have at least one player purchase a defuse kit in case the Ts get a successful bomb plant.

Buying armor puts you at an economic disadvantage, especially if the round is lost. It’s such a massive boost in how big of an impact you make on the pistol round simply because you stay alive much longer.
