In Rust’s June’s Built Different update, a new set of ballistic armor was added, featuring three separate highly protective pieces. The rare protective armor offers superior protection to Rust’s full metal set but can be extremely hard to come across. The armor was added in a move to increase the TTK of Rust’s late-game PvP, along with a set of BDU clothing items. Follow along as we teach you everything you need to know about Rust’s ballistic armor.

The ballistic helmet is the first piece of ballistic armor added to Rust. The helmet is most similar to the metal facemask, yet it offers a superior 60% projectile protection, as well as extra bite, cold, and explosive protection. The ballistic helmet can be found exclusively inside of Locked and Elite level crates, so be sure to explore high-level monuments to find it.

The all-black ballistic vest serves as a direct upgrade to the metal chest plate. The vest offers an additional 10% projectile protection, totaling 35%. The vest also offers increased cold and explosive protection. The ballistic vest can only be found in either Locked or Elite crates.

The final piece of ballistic armor added to Rust is the ballistic leg armor. The leg guards can be best compared to the roadsign kilt, offering 10% more physical protection, 20% more melee protection, as well as adding explosive and cold protection. The ballistic leg armor, similarly to the rest of the set, can be found only in Locked and Elite crates.

That covers everything you need to know about Rust’s ballistic armor. Keep your eyes peeled for the new armor set as you explore high-end monuments. If you enjoyed this blog, feel free to check out our blog covering the BDU clothing mentioned earlier. See you next time!
