Though not as popular as maps such as Mirage or Dust 2, Overpass is still a highly played map at every level of Counter-Strike, especially since it is currently featured in the game’s Active Duty Map Pool. This bomb defusal map has been around since 2013 and has received several significant design updates over the years. Especially for CS2, Overpass is one of the most visually striking maps out there, thanks to its overhauled design, which also adds to its popularity. This guide will help you master Overpass callouts to improve your communication and take one step further towards ranking up in CS2.
A Site: The upper bomb site on Overpass, also exactly where the Counter-Terrorists spawn. The portion on A Site where the bomb can be planted is depicted by a spray-painted red box. One of the reasons why Overpass is considered a CT-sided map.

B Site: The portion of B Site that the bomb can be planted on is the wooden platform surrounded by other construction materials, which is close to the circular pillar called Monster.

T Spawn: The spawn point with closer access to the areas surrounding Mid and Fountain. Where the Terorrist-side team starts each round.

A Long: The lengthy pathway that links the Mid/Fountain section to the A bombsite. Also called Park at times since it resembles a park. The longest continuous part of the entire Overpass map. Many other callouts like Tree or Bench are found along A Long.

Upper Tunnels: The pathway bridges T Spawn and the Fountain/Playground area. It also serves as a path towards the ladder/lower tunnels. T side players usually go through one of the main passageways at the start of the round, especially during A Site hits.

Lower Tunnels: Accessible from Upper Tunnels by going down Ladder, the Terrorists can either go up the Connector or make an effective split advance towards B Site.

Connector: A small ladder section on the A side of the map that leads from Lower Tunnels up towards the Mid area. Similarly, it serves as a connection between Mid and the lower part of the map close to B Site.

Party: Looks like a party setup with balloons and some picnic-themed decorations. An elevated part of Mid outside Toilets that overlooks said part of the map and Connector.

Mid: The central area of the Overpass is situated between the restroom, Party, and Connector’s exit, acting as the route between the Fountain and Restrooms. A highly contested spot early in the round, with a lot of emphasis towards players pushing long or trying to capture an essential part of the map quickly.

Fountain: Generally considered to be the callout for the area surrounding the Fountain near Mid that players would see coming out of Upper Tunnels.

Playground: The enclosed Playground area is behind the fountain and is one of two paths you can take from the Upper Tunnels.

CS2 Writer
Rock: A big rock on A Long that serves as the first available cover when Terrorists push through the area.

Tree: A big tree found along A Long that serves as a nice hiding spot for both T Side and CT Side players trying to avoid each other while contesting the area.

Long Toilets: The portion of Toilets/Restroom that is closest to A Long.

Long Boost: A spot where players can perform a boost or execute a skillful jump to get on this elevated portion of A Long. Provides a superior angle towards anyone watching from Close Left/Van/Bank.

Close Left (Long): The sharp corner at the exit of A Long leading into A Site. Common hiding spot for anyone defending A.

Van: A van parked in front of the Bank. Another common hiding spot on A Site.

Bank: The multi-layered structure at the backmost part of A Site that is designed like a Bank. Also, it has a set of stairs connecting Storage or Heaven to A.

Default (A): The familiar plant spot on A Site is where the Counter Terrorist teams spawn during the game.

Optimus: A truck was found on a site with visibility towards a short and the edge of toilets. One of the most unique Overpass callouts takes its name from the popular Transformer Optimus Prime, who transforms into a truck.

Bins: Also commonly called Dumpsters. A set of garbage bins is situated along a flight of stairs that connects A Site and B Site together. It also provides an alternate route to reach the bank through storage.

Toilets: The building found in the middle of Overpass that pretty much resembles a restroom, hence the callout Toilets.

A Short: The path parallel to Toilets that is another route to take when approaching A Site from Mid. Since there is no B Short, it is simply called Short at times.

Flowers: A set of flowers one can spot coming out of Toilets or A Short.

CT: Pertains to the spot where CT Spawn is in the general direction instead of the spawn point itself. Refers to the open space behind A Site where there are pathways to Bank, Storage, and Heaven. Also called Back Site.

Monster: This refers to the tunnel providing direct access to B Site from T Spawn. It is called Monster because the nearby pillar on B Site, which you see coming out of the tunnel, has a graffiti illustration of a monster.

Tracks: A large, open space right past Alley that directs to either Monster tunnel or Short Tunnel.

Short Tunnel: The narrow tunnel opposite Monster leading toward Construction/Water and Squeaky. Also called Pipe

Water: A water-logged area outside of Short Tunnel that leads to either Squeaky or Sand Bags.

Squeaky: The door at the end of Connector that leads into Construction/Water. Similar to the callout on Nuke, it earns its name from the squeaky noise it makes when opened or closed.

Sandbags: A pile of sandbags on the path from Water to B Site, frequently used as cover by defenders. Another common hiding spot on this part of the map.

Sewers: The path leading toward B Site when coming from Monster. It gets its name from the number of sewage pipes and garbage found here.

Pillar: A large cylindrical structure at the center of B Site, typically referred to as Monster, given the graffiti design on it.

Toxic Barrels: A stack of barrels adjacent to B Site, offering a vantage point over players pushing out of Monster or Sand Bags. Sometimes just called Toxic or Barrels.

Pit: A low-ground area behind B Site where players land after dropping down from Heaven. There used to be water in this spot, so it was also previously called Water in Global Offensive.

Heaven: A raised metal platform overlooking B Site with a barricade that gives players excellent aerial vision over the B Site part of the map. In a recent update, the barricade has been broken, and players can easily jump down to Pit, giving players on the ground better visibility of the elevated area.

Graffiti: A small space behind B Site where players can be boosted for an elevated view over Construction/Water. Also a familiar hiding spot for players to take quick cover when fighting for control of B. Not to be confused with both Monster callouts, graffiti is also found here.

Cafe: A cafe sign found on A Long.

Bench: A small bench is found across the cafe sign on Long.

Storage: A small room between the Bank and Bins/Dumpster near A Site. Can access Heaven through here.

Bridge: A short path on B that connects Sandbags or the default planting spot with Walkway/Graffiti.

Boost: A common boost spot is found next to Water, which gives vision over B Site.

Ladder: A ladder you can go up and down to access Upper/Lower Tunnels.

Signpost: A sign near A Site, located on the wall between the exits of A Long and A Short. Directly opposite Close Left.

Hitmarker: The farthest back part of A Long from CT players defending against approaching T players. Called Hitmarker since shots from AWPers will usually register high amounts of damage but never fatal.

The map may have changed a lot over the years, especially upon the introduction of CS2, but the overall appeal of Overpass stays the same. It’s got a unique flair with lots of fanmade callouts thanks to many years of professional matches and iconic moments, but it’s also equally as important to know the proper terms for each spot to ensure the best chance of success.
