Covert Skin Prices Skyrocket as New CS2 Update Adds Knife Trade Ups

A horrifying reminder of the all-powerful control the Valve developers hold, this most recent Knife Trade-up contract update has left the community in shambles. Not only has it tanked the economy by over 2 billion dollars, but this update has also left even the worst of coverts on the rise for the first time since their release. Today, we will take a look at the CS2 Covert Price increases, as we continue to recover from such a large update!

Which Covert Skins Have Increased the Most in Price?

Although just about all CS2 covert skins have increased in price, some stand out especially as players try to get the best of the best outcomes from their trade-up contracts. The following covert skins have increased the most 24 hours following the update:

  1. P90 Asiimov: Primarily for Breakout Collection trade up contracts, ensuring a guaranteed Butterfly knife. A P90 that would previously cost you roughly $8 now costs over $100 in any condition!
  2. SSG 08 Dragonfire: Used in Glove Case tradeups, allowing players a shot at some of the most expensive gloves in the game, specifically Sport Gloves. Before the update, the SSG 08 Dragonfire was selling for just under $20; now, even in the worst of conditions, they sell for over $80!
  3. MP9 Starlight Protector: A previously $2 Covert skin, now costing over $80 in Factory New. This Cover skin is used for Gamma Doppler knife trade-ups coming from the Dreams and Nightmares Case.

Why are Covert Skin Prices Increasing?

In the newest Counter-Strike update, players were given the ability to craft knives and gloves via the input of five Covert skins. This sudden spike is caused by players rushing to purchase Covert Skins for their favorite cases to craft trade-up contracts.

What Does This Mean For The CS2 Skins Market?

It is easy to be scared after such a strange update rolls out, especially one that changes the skin market, let alone knives and gloves. Contrary to community reaction, the end of CS2 has not just arrived, and this CS2 update, although unfortunate in ways, will without a doubt have positive effects in the long run, allowing all players to access even the rarest items in Counter-Strike.

If anything, this update is nothing but a statement to all the individuals investing large amounts of money into CS2. These pixels, although pretty, are not a currency that can be relied upon!
