Who is Hawkeye337?

Hawkeye337 has become widely known in the CS2 community for his extremely rare complete Katowice 2014 Sticker set. This full Katowice 2014 collection is not the only item in his inventory, though; thousands of dollars of other rare items, such as an M4A4 Howl, or other such rare items, can be found in his inventory. What makes this inventory so special? He remarkably bought every Katowice 2014 sticker for a combined total of $100 back in 2014.

What Did The Hackers do?

According to Hawkeye337, the hackers took control of his account, and he was quickly locked out of it. Additionally, these hackers attempted to blackeye Hawkeye337, going as far as to threaten his children! Upon realizing that they had quickly painted themselves into a corner, the unknown criminals applied every single sticker in Hawkeye337’s inventory onto default skins, as well as scraping over $250,000 in value down to nothing.

What Was Valve’s Response?

Apparently, upon hearing the community’s outcry for help, Valve acted quickly, taking control of the account again only four hours later. Going one step further, Valve returned Hawkeye337’s inventory to its original state before granting him access again. According to Hawkeye337’s most recent statement, he believes all items are accounted for and that his account has been secured. Such a quick response from Valve is actually quite shocking; such a reversal hasn’t been seen since the infamous 3 million dollar inventory HFB hack scandal. In the end Hawkeye337 has been returned all $250,000 in Katowice 2014 stickers hacked.

Will Steam Act In This Capacity For All Hacked Accounts?

Unfortunately, the majority of Steam account hacks are actually client-side issues. In this case, the error is believed to be on Valve’s side, which explains the quick reversal. This means that, sadly, not all hacked accounts will regain items lost or stickers applied.

An event that had the community unified in saving these precious Katowice 2014 hacked stickers has surely taught everyone a lesson on account security and serves as a reminder that Steam Accounts are not untouchable. Surely Hawkeye377 is sighing a breath of relief, enjoying those fantastic Katowice 2014 stickers once again.
