Rust Water Treatment Plant: How to Activate and Use Rust’s Water Production System

In Rust’s new Power Trip update, older monuments were refreshed with the introduction of the player-maintained monument system. One of these monuments is Rust’s Water Treatment Plant, which now features a functional water system. In this blog, we will teach you exactly how to activate Rust’s new water pipes.

How to Activate Water Production

Rust’s water production must be activated inside the Water Treatment Plant. Once power phase one has been reached, a gearbox found inside the plant will begin sparking. This gearbox must be activated to begin water production.

How to Activate Water Production

Where to Find The Gearbox

The gearbox can be found on top of the parkour section of the Water Treatment Plant. Insert a gear and begin interacting with the gearbox to spin it. A meter on top of the gearbox indicates your progress as you slowly rotate it. Gears are consumed as you rotate the gearbox, meaning several may be required depending on the current pressure level. Once fully rotated, Rust’s water pipes will activate and fill with water.

How to Use Rust’s Water Pipes

Once you have finally activated the water, new roadside water pipes will be active map-wide. Each of these pipes holds 15,000 milliliters of water, which can be accessed by all players. One set of these pipes can be found inside Rust’s Water Treatment Plant next to the gear puzzle room. The water pipes will eventually close when the water pressure drops, requiring the gearbox to once again be rotated.
