If you play any of Counter-Strike‘s game modes, you’d typically want to never die — and you’d be right! Staying alive is literally the best way to increase your contribution during a game, especially in team-based modes.

But what if intentionally dying would actually be considered a good thing? There have been many clutch situations throughout CS that any additional information would’ve changed the outcome of the round, and sometimes sacrificing yourself in the name of teamwork is what separates players with decent game sense from truly formidable users.
Counter-Strike isn’t just a game that’s built on pointing towards an enemy and going for a kill. Lots of factors, including how much information is available to you and your team, are what really decide who comes out of a match victorious.

A death might sting on your K/D ratio and be even more painful if it feels like you sacrificed yourself for a push that never worked, but sometimes it’s the hard supports of the team that stand out amongst all the other guys.
This tip varies from game to game, but just watching enough CS matches will tell you all you need to know about when dying for information is necessary.
Say you’re fighting for control of an area where success would likely lead to kills and eventually the round, but not one of your teammates knows the enemy’s location; intentionally baiting yourself for the sake of executing the plan would be a bold yet winning strategy for sure.
It’s entirely possible to stay alive through a long round and even pick up kills when your health bar is in the red, but more often than not, you’d end up as an easy kill for someone on the other side. In this case, why not assist your team with some crucial information as you go down?

A very common practice by players who are low on health is to intentionally “bait” themselves by rushing towards the opponents’ general direction, regardless of whether or not they actually get some shots out, for the sole purpose of exposing their hiding spots.
