Despite no longer being the flagship online matchmaking game mode in Counter-Strike 2, Competitive still remains highly popular, especially with more casual players and those who prefer the traditional style of matchmaking from years past. Additionally, given the high number of reported cheaters in Premier mode, reverting to Competitive matchmaking is a prudent way to mitigate these concerns.
Unlike Premier mode, which utilizes the all-new CS rating system, Competitive mode still employs the traditional ranking system, which features badges and rank names ranging from Silver I to The Global Elite. To present this kind of information, Leetify utilizes the CS2 rank distribution from the player base that has their respective accounts connected to the service, and presents it in an easy-to-understand graph.

Compared to how the Leetify CS2 rank stats looked in the same month last year, the April 2025 competitive rank distribution showed that a large chunk of the player base was sitting around the Silver IV to Gold Nova III ranks.
The most populated skill group was, unsurprisingly, the lowest one as Silver I players took up 11.1% of the distribution. Next up were the 329,607 players ranked at Gold Nova I, which equates to 9.9%, while Silver Elite Master was the third-most populated skill group at 9.8% of the population.
Only 1,392 players could call themselves The Global Elite as of April 2025, which made up a minuscule 0.04% of the entire Leetify database.

May’s rank distribution stats are split, and that’s because of the Mission Possible update in CS2 that introduced optional objectives that a player can complete to obtain additional XP. Before the map update (and with a smaller sample size of 1,417,133 players), there were noticeably higher percentages all across the board and not just for a handful of ranks.

For example, the distribution for Master Guardian I was 5.2% before the map update, then quickly fell down to 4.5% afterwards. Silver I also experienced a lot of growth, jumping from 10.5% of the population share to a staggering 12.4% in the second part of the month.
The Gold Nova ranks lost a lot in terms of percentage at this time, with Gold Nova II, Gold Nova III, and Gold Nova Master all experiencing rank distribution losses of 0.6-0.7%.

The only significant rank distribution change that happened in June 2025 was that the Silver I player base only grew further. The population jumped from 363,932 at the end of May to a whopping 448,539 in June, accounting for 13.4% of the Competitive mode players that are connected to Leetify.
