As we all know, CS2 has one of the largest esports communities globally. With millions of views each year, CS2 has become not only an esports but a lifestyle for thousands across the world. It is always heart-shattering when a team ceases to exist, especially when it’s a team that’s been there since the beginning of it all, forced to step out by financial problems. Today, we will be taking a look at the unfortunate leave that Complexity is taking from CS2.

Why is Complexity Leaving Counter-Strike?

In an online video statement, Ceo Jason Lake stated, “We have not been able to derive enough revenue to afford to properly support a tier 1 team.” This is believed to be the primary reason for the unexpected leave that Complexity Gaming has chosen to pursue.

Jason Lake further states the esports economy has been “challenging” for Complexity Gaming, particularly Complexity’s CS2 team. This issue has become present across several teams in the sport, and it will surely continue to exist across professional Counter-Strike.

Will Complexity Ever Return To CS2?

At the current moment, it seems unlikely that Complexity Gaming will return to Counter-Strike in the near future. From the words of Jason Lake, on the matter of a return, “We have no immediate plans for that, until one of the aforementioned challenges has been solved”.

As you can see, Complexity Gaming is unlikely to return to the Counter-Strike scene with such financial problems at stake. This is extremely heartbreaking, as Complexity has been one of the oldest esports organizations, particularly in the Counter-Strike community, having been around since the beginning of Counter-Strike Global Offensive. It is important to note that Jason Lake has stated that the ongoing Prize Picks Revival event, hosted by Complexity Gaming, will continue till its completion.

Complexity Gaming will forever remain in our hearts without a shred of doubt. Being one of the first organizations in Division One Counter-Strike, it is the least we as a community can offer to such an important piece of not only the North American scene, but the history of esports.
