How to Inspect Skins In CS2

Whether you are on a skin buying spree, fantasizing about the expensive skins that only the wealthiest CS2 players can afford, or looking to take some screenshots of a new skin to flex on your friends, you need to know how to inspect skins in-game in CS2. You can inspect skins in various ways in CS2, and in this step-by-step guide, we will cover how to inspect skins in CS2.

How to Inspect Skins – In-Game CS2 Preview

If you are looking for a quick screenshot, you can always inspect skins in the CS2 skin inspection preview. Though this is a more primitive form of skin inspection, it is a great way to check out skin to see if it is worth trying in the game. To inspect skins using CS2’s in-game skin preview:

  1. Find the inspect link of the skin you want to inspect in the game.
    1. If you know the skin owner, go to their inventory and look for the skin. From here, you can click the “inspect in-game” button on the item page of the owner’s skin in their inventory.
    2. If you want to inspect skin with no stickers, you can go to the Steam Community Market listing for that skin and click the “inspect in-game” button on the market listing. This will generate the inspection link of the most recent listing of that specific skin.
    3. If you are looking for a specific skin, you can always use Float.db. Just search for the skin you want and click the inspect button or copy the inspect link.
  2. Click the inspect in-game button or paste the inspect link into any browser.
  3. This will generate a popup asking you if you want to open Steam. Click Open Steam, and the skin will immediately be generated in game. If the game hasn’t already been launched, it will launch CS2 for you before generating the skin inspection preview.
  4. Here is a sample of what this in-game preview will look like:

If you want to change the background map used in the screenshot:

  1. Navigate to the home page of CS2
  2. Click the white button on the bottom right of your lobby background scenery.
  3. Click “Change Main Menu Scenery.” This will open an in-game menu for selecting a new background.
  4. Select your preferred background, and it will immediately change. Now, when you inspect skins in CS2, it will use a background from the selected map.

Inspecting Skins on CS2 Inspect Maps

There are currently several workshop maps for inspecting skins in CS2. They are mostly similar; however, certain features may vary across maps. To download and use a CS2 inspect map, follow the directions below:

  1. Launch CS2
  2. Click Play
  3. Click “Workshop Maps”
  4. Navigate to the bottom left corner of the screen and select “Visit Workshop.” If you cannot launch CS2, you can also go to the workshop directly on the Steam website by clicking here.
  5. This will direct you to the official CS2 Workshop. Here, you can look through thousands of maps that you can play in the game.
  6. To make your map search easier, type “inspect map” in the search bar at the top of the workshop menu and press enter.
  7. Once you have found the map(s) that you want to use for inspecting skins, click on the map thumbnail to open up its workshop page. Directly underneath the photos of the map, you will see a “Subscribe to download” tab with a green Subscribe button. Simply hit Subscribe, and you will automatically be “subscribed to the map.”
  8. If you are already on CS2, the map will download in a few seconds. If not, as long as you are logged into Steam when subscribing to the map, the map will be automatically added to your map library. The next time you launch CS2, it will be downloaded to your game files, and you will be able to use it to inspect and take screenshots of skins in CS2.

However, CS2 inspect maps have one fatal flaw: they only work with your own skins. If the skin you are inspecting isn’t in your inventory, then you won’t be able to inspect it on the map. To inspect other people’s skins on unique inspect maps or to create hypothetical sticker crafts, you will need to use skin inspect servers.

Inspecting Skins on CS2 Skin Inspect Servers

Are you looking to inspect skins in CS2 without owning them? Are you trying to test out new skins before buying them, or check out how your craft ideas look in the game? Or are you just looking for the easiest way to inspect skins in Counter Strike 2? If so, then a CS2 inspect server is exactly what you need. Follow this short guide to use a CS2 skin inspection server.

  1. Go to https://cs2inspects.com. The site is trusted and safe to log into Steam with. It is partnered with one of our partnered sites: BitSkins.com.
  2. Log in with Steam.
  3. Connect to one of their many servers on eight different maps.
  4. Use the search bar to find the skin you want to inspect.
  5. Use the different settings options to change the skin’s wear rating, applied stickers, and pattern.
  6. Click “Inspect In-Server.”
  7. The skin will immediately be generated in the server. Now, you can test it out and inspect it as if you had it in your inventory.
  8. If you want to inspect multiple skins at once(knife + gloves, for example), use the Combo option. Add the skins you want to inspect and click “Save Combo.” Then, copy the combo code and paste it into the chat in the server to generate the combo.

Disabling HUD For Screenshots when Inspecting Skins in CS2

To disable the HUD for screenshots in CS2:

  1. Open the developer console. If it isn’t already enabled, open the settings page, and in the settings search bar, search for “enable developer console.” Then, simply click yes, and the developer console will be enabled.
  2. Type cl_drawhud 0 into the developer console.
  3. When you want your HUD back, type cl_drawhud one into the developer console.
