The IEM Cologne 2026 Major is only days away, and it’s got all the makings of an all-time classic tournament. In itself, IEM Cologne is already one of the most prestigious tournaments you can possibly compete in, and this year’s iteration, being an official Major Championship, just adds to the spectacle tenfold.
A grand tournament calls for, of course, a grand prize pool. Major prize pools are rather consistent year after year, and this one is no exception. Here is the breakdown for the total prize pool of one of the best tournaments in Counter-Strike.
Not every team that will make the trip to Cologne will come home with prize money to show for it. Teams are eliminated at each stage, and those who don’t make it past Stage 1 will walk away empty-handed.

The top eight from Stage 1 progress to Stage 2, where even a quick 0-3 elimination is still rewarded with a decent amount of money for their efforts.
Of the 16 teams that will be in Stage 2 of the Major, eight will move on, while the other half don’t play an extra day. Getting knocked out at this stage still has some kind of merit to it, as 9th-16th place in Stage 2 will all receive $10,000 each.

Spirit, Astralis, and G2 are the best teams that are directly seeded to this part of the tournament. Three wins will allow them to move on towards Stage 3 and a bigger share of the total prize pool, while three losses keep them at only the $10K.
Teams that make it to Stage 3 and fail to win their potential advancement matches, which result in an elimination, will all still receive $20,000 each. For the IEM Cologne Major playoffs, however, the prize pool is distributed quite differently.

Teams that officially place 5-8th by getting knocked out in the first round of the playoffs will take home $45,000 each. Those who don’t make it past the semifinals and finish in 3rd/4th claim $80,000. A Grand Final appearance guarantees a team at least $170,000, and finally, the overall champion will take home a whopping $500,000.

Since the IEM Cologne Major 2026 is part of the ESL Grand Slam calendar, the champion team will receive a mark on the way towards a successful Season 7 Grand Slam campaign.
Currently, Natus Vincere are the only team on the board following their IEM Atlanta 2026 victory and can double-up should they emerge victorious in Cologne.
