How to Build The Best CS2 Team
In a game filled with competitive play, organizing the best CS2 team possible is imperative to victory. Throughout counter strikes history, time and time again, we can see that teams working together in the highest capacity succeed more than a disorganized team.

How Will An Organised CS2 Team Improve Individual Performance?
It seems strange to say that improving your team will improve you, right? Well, it’s the most honest statement in Counter-Strike. Without a well-rounded team, performing at your highest capacity is impossible. Not only does an unorganized team lead to greater chances of loss, but improper teams can also drain you both physically and mentally. It takes effort to get the right team going, but trust us, it’s worth it.
What Are Important CS2 Team Roles?
Roles are essential to creating an efficient team in any game or sport. Allowing players to master one skill and become proficient in that skill will do better than an entire team with basic knowledge of all skills. CS2 is fascinating as it has quite unique player roles.
AWPER

A team has a singular Awper (or sniper) in the current competitive environment. Your team’s Awper should be proficient with the AWP, the SSG, and other single-shot weapons such as the Deagle. The role of the Awper is not just to take singular kills throughout the game; a good Awper should make kills that allow other roles, such as entry fraggers, to take over a site or location. Your chosen Awper should be the most accurate player on the team; any missed shot can cost the round and the game. The Awper should not only be proficient in the AWP due to its extreme value, but a good Awper should also be skilled with rifles for rounds when the AWP is unavailable.
Entry Fragger

The Entry Fragger is an essential role. Playing the most aggressive role on a team, the Entry Fragger(s) should be amazing in high-stress environments where they might be forced to kill large amounts of the other team. There can be multiple Entry Fraggers on a team, but most players don’t serve as primarily just an Entry. In any CS2 team, getting entry kills is important, but for any team looking to go to the next level, having a proficient Entry is the only way to improve.
Anchor

The anchor is no ordinary player. This role is not for new players or even the most experienced players. Being an Anchor means avoiding the temptation to search for enemies or leave sites to get kills. A good Anchor stays behind the rest of the team, killing any sneaky flankers, stragglers, or enemies they can find. An Anchor (or lurker)
IGL (In Game Leader)

Undoubtedly, the IGL is the most important person on a CS2 team. The role of an IGL is given to the most experienced player capable of knowing plays and having the wit to make the calls for an entire team. Being an IGL is the largest technical leap from any other role, as an IGL is forced to make the heat of the second decision to make or break a round, or worse, a game. Though it is possible to succeed for a short time without a designated IGL, if you or your team have any hope of improving, finding and training an excellent IGL is essential.
How Can You Find CS2 Teammates?
When first joining a game, especially something as competitive as Counter-Strike, it can be not easy to build a team quickly. Finding the right skills and the right people can be quite challenging. Here are our tips for finding new teammates.
You may be able to find some CS2 teammates in the SkinLords official Discord server:
- Play With Randoms
It can be scary at first, but playing a regular game, regardless of the game mode, can be quite beneficial for finding a team and your skills. Though CS2 hosts many toxic individuals, you will find some of the best friendships that can be formed with people who meet in a random game! - Use Social Media
In 2024, social media will be an essential component of any CS2 team. Whether hunting new players or simply communicating amongst a team, using social media is necessary for any CS2 team looking to succeed. When searching for new players, some of the best places to look are CS2-specific Discord servers, CS2’s official subreddit, or Steam community discussions. It’s important to remember that when you’re looking for a teammate, you’re not signing a contract. You can simply play a couple of games and see if they are the right fit for you. - Reach Out To Friends and Family
A family member or close friend can be an amazing addition to a CS2 team, considering a relationship between you and them is already present. Playing games with a cousin, sibling, or friend from school can be a great way to find teammates and have fun!
Once You’ve Found A CS2 Team, What Next?
First off, congratulations, you have done the hardest part already! To take the next steps, your team must discuss how much you’d like to achieve, whether professional play, FACEIT play, or regular old competitive play; it is important to set your sights on some rank goal. Once you’ve formed an official (or unofficial) team, it is time to make a team name and logo! If you’re looking to go serious, you can even have the team put it in their usernames; otherwise, it can just be a group chat name for the team to know. It’s also important to recognize not every team is going to a tier-one level, especially not quickly. Setting small, achievable goals as a team will lead to greater success in the long run as the team learns and grows together.
Every CS2 team will go through its ups and downs, but the ability to stick together, persevere, and improve makes the team great. We wish you and your team good luck with all your future matches!
