CS2 Weekly Drop System Explained – How Does the Weekly Care Package Work?
If you have been active on the internet, you have probably heard of games that “pay to play.” In other words, you will be rewarded with money or items that can be sold for real-world money just for playing the game. However, many of these games are either scams, require you to spend outrageous amounts of money for minimal returns or run crypto mining programs that strain your computer’s resources. However, thanks to the addition of the weekly care package to Counter-Strike, it has become one of the few games that quite literally pay you to play. Simply playing CS2 for a few hours per week can guarantee around $50 per year purely from your CS2 weekly care package. This article explains CS2’s weekly drop system, how to get your weekly drop, when it resets, and how to sell it for real money.
What is the CS2 Weekly Care Package?
The weekly care package in CS2 is a “drop system” that rewards players for playing CS2 matches every week. Once per week, all Prime status players will receive a weekly care package drop with cases, weapon skins, and graffiti. These items can be worth anywhere from $0.03 to over $100, and you will always get two items per week. Outcomes from the weekly care package include:
-
1 Weapon Case
-
1-2 Weapon Skins
-
1-2 Graffitis
Each weekly care package comes with four items, but players must select the two items they want the most. Most players take a weapon case(which tends to be the most valuable item in the drop) and a skin, but some opt for other combinations.
How to Get a Weekly Care Package Drop in CS2
Like the sound of the CS2 weekly care package? Luckily for you, it is available to anyone! All you have to do is purchase Prime status, and you will automatically receive a weekly care package upon leveling up each week. If you already bought Prime status or purchased CS:GO when it cost money, then you are already eligible for a weekly drop. If not, follow the steps below to buy the Prime Status Upgrade for CS2:
-
1Go to Steam
-
2Search for Counter-Strike 2 in the store or click here.
-
3Scroll down until you see the Buy Prime Status Upgrade button.
-
4Click “Add to Cart” to purchase the upgrade. You will need $14.99 in your Steam balance or $14.99 to buy the upgrade. But remember, this pays itself back in just a few weeks, so think of this more as an investment than anything.
-
5Now you have Prime Status. Relaunch your game, and you will be all set to go!
Now that you are eligible for your weekly care package, all you have to do is play CS2! The first time per week that you level up in CS2 by earning 5000 XP, you will get a weekly care package popup on your screen. Just claim the items you want the most and enjoy your free rewards. If you get average luck, you will probably get around $1 per week from the reward system, meaning purchasing Prime Status will pay itself off in 2 weeks of playing for a few hours per week.
When Does the Weekly Care Package Reset?
You are only allowed to claim one weekly care package per week, so if you want to maximize rewards without wasting time, time your level up so that you level up only once per week. The drop resets every Wednesday at 3:00 AM Central European Time(CET). The corresponding time for your time zone can be found in the table below.
